On Saturday the 12th March two Larne ac members Emmett Woods and Sinead Mcallister travelled down to Glenariff for the first of the NIMRA races the ‘Spud Run’. Which was exciting as it hasn’t been on since pre covid in 2020.
With the weather in their favour a good dry but all be it a breezy day the race starts of through the muddy river banks and from there the only way is up! A steep climb for a constant mile and a then a fast descent with jelly legs to try and manage the remaining riverbank muddy miles to the finish.
First home was Sinead-Marie McAllister finishing in a time of 1:07 and placed 75th out of 116. 5th in open female category (Only 26 females raced). Pleased with her time 5mins faster than previous time raced. Next home was Emmett Woods finishing in a time of 1:12 and 96th place out of 116. 7th in age category MV55.
A great day all round and a nice way to kick start the spring season.
