Larne AC 10K Coast Road Run – 2/07/2022

On Saturday 2nd July 2022 twenty members of Larne AC participated in this the 3rd race in the LAC Coast Road series. The weather conditions weren’t too bad with a slight SE wind which resulted in some impressive times all round.

First home for the Club was Jordan Heron with an excellent run in a very impressive 34min 7 sec finishing 13th in a very strong field of runners from all over the country. Second home for the Club and with the Edinburgh Marathon well and truly out of his legs Martan Keane put in a great shift to finish 47th in an equally impressive sub 40 time of 37:39. Third for the Club and getting closer to that elusive sub 40 John Steele had a great run finishing 97th in a time of 40:44 next home was Lee Clements running a great race finishing 134th in 43:39. Thomas Craig pushing his young girls Anna and Ellen in a double buggy didn`t let that hinder his run by finishing in a great time of 44:00.

Our first lady home (you guessed it, the lady that`s on fire at the moment) yes Julianne Keane had an excellent run clocking a sub 45 PB time of 44:10 finishing 142nd overall but even more impressive 1st F50 absolutely brilliant well done Julianne.

Mark Todd followed closely behind finishing 164th in a time of 45:24. Then Mathew McGuire had a great debut race finishing 178th in a excellent time of 45:59. Our second lady and also another debutant race was Anna Campbell finishing 204th in 48:07. Dan Magill back training hard to get into shape for pacing the 2hrs in the Antrim Coast Road Half Marathon finished the 10K in 253rd place in a time of 51:26. Niamh McLaughlin was our third lady home with a very impressive PB time of 51:59 finishing 264th overall.

David Johnston followed closely behind Niamh finishing 265th in a time of 52:10. Hot on Davy`s heels was another debutant Paul Magill putting in a great shift an proving his dedication and work rate that he puts in on a Tuesday and Thursday night at training is really paying off by finishing 295th in a superb time of 55:11. John Brennan followed closely behind Paul finishing 300th in 55:46. Michelle McIntosh was next finishing 317th with a great sub 60 time of 57:30.

Following on from her amazing exploits in the Belfast City Marathon was Gail Montgomery finishing 334th in an impressive PB sub 60 time of 59:36.

Next home was Sharon Bell finishing 348th in a time of 1:01:48 which is all the more impressive as her training had been hampered by a niggling injury. Catherine Todd followed closely behind with a steady run taking in all the atmosphere to finish 362nd in 1:06:05, next was another one of the Prosecco Gang Pearl Henry finishing 367th in 1:06:48. Senga Craig followed with another impressive run in an excellent time of 1:16:16.

Well Done to you all you did the Club really proud with all the impressive performances.

Yesterday was a great success with a lot of great feed back coming from participants from other clubs and areas, this was all down to YOU as a Club. The effort and work put in by the whole LAC Club was second to none and big thank you to Sandy Plumb, Leah Steel and all their helpers for the great post race refreshments. Well done to all the Volunteers / Marshal`s as a lot of the feedback was to say how friendly and helpful you were from start to finish.
